Rev. J.L. Preston, Pastor/Teacher
Rev. J.L. Preston is a native of Terrell, Texas, where he was born and raised. He is married to his devoted wife, Beverly A. Preston, and together they are blessed with three children—Ashley, Jeremy, and Zachary Preston—and eight cherished grandchildren.
Pastor Preston accepted God’s call into the ministry and preached his first sermon in September 1987. Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to the Gospel and a heart for serving God’s people, he was called to pastor his first congregation, Little Flock Baptist Church in Forney, Texas, on February 12, 1991. During his fourteen years of faithful leadership, the church experienced spiritual growth and continued development.
In 2005, Rev. Preston answered God’s call to serve as Pastor of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, where he continued his ministry of preaching, teaching, and shepherding God’s people. In June 2015, he was called to serve as Pastor of Greater Hopewell Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas, where he currently serves as Pastor and Teacher.
Known for his passionate preaching, strong biblical teaching, and servant leadership, Pastor Preston has dedicated his life to advancing the Kingdom of God and strengthening local churches throughout East Texas. His leadership extends beyond the local church as he currently serves as Moderator of the Hopewell Central District Association and East Texas Region President of the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas.
Rev. Preston’s ministry is guided by a commitment to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, developing disciples, and encouraging believers to grow in faith and service. Alongside his wife, Sis. Beverly Preston, he continues to faithfully impact lives through ministry, leadership, and Christian service.
